To fulfill President Lincoln’s promise “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans.
The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services provides direct services to Veterans through the administration of 19 Veterans Benefits Offices throughout the state to help Veterans connect with their VA benefits, two skilled nursing Veteran Home facilities in Phoenix and Tucson to provide short and long term care, one Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista with additional cemeteries planned in Northern Arizona and Marana, and a Fiduciary to provide conservator and guardian services for incapacitated Veterans. In addition, the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services provides critical, state-wide coordination and technical assistance to services and organizations serving Veterans. This includes activities such as coordinating services across private and public sectors in serving targeted populations such as Veterans experiencing homelessness and Women Veterans, as well as building community capacity to address Veteran employment and higher education.
The primary objective of the Veterans Program is to develop and support programs that increase opportunities for veterans to obtain employment and job training in Arizona. Eligible veterans are entitled to receive priority services in job referrals and training by DES staff, as well as other employment-related services. As part of our services, we will provide Unemployment Insurance claimants with early intervention and immediate referrals to suitable job openings, including employment services customized to their job finding needs, such as job search workshops, job development, and screening for referrals to jobs, training or other support services. This will hasten the Unemployment Insurance claimant’s re-entry into employment. Click above.
